Bring out your child's artistic side with the Academy's tours of traditional art techniques and materials. Kids learn concepts and principles as they complete a variety of creative projects. Appropriate projects are selected to accommodate individual interests and abilities in each class.
Art classes meet for 45 minutes per week; classes are currently available for children who are 3 to 5 years old. The price for semester is $285. Please see our schedule for current times and registration instructions.

Creative Writing
In this creative writing class, students will experience writing as a way of expressing one's thoughts, feelings, and ideas. Young writers become active members of a writing group where they create personal narratives, expository text, poetry, short stories and more.
All written works completed within the semester will emphasize the writing process - brainstorming, drafting, editing, and publishing. Writing mechanics and content revision will be taught in the the context of writing. All writers will depart from this class with several finished pieces of writing to add to their portfolio. This class is currently offered for students in grades 4 through 8.
Knitting
A fun and engaging introduction to fiber and textile arts, this class provides its students with a working knowledge of the knitting world. While focusing on the basic techniques of the craft, students will also learn the history of knitting in America and the role it plays in society. As the class progresses, students will feel pride at seeing their projects completed, and the enjoyment of a life-long hobby. Our knitting class is currently offered for students ages 8 to 13.
